YWCA Aurora’s launches STEM programming in Aurora Summer Camps

YWCA Aurora is excited to launch STEM programming serving the Aurora community as part of its strategic vision. The YWCA Aurora STEM Initiative is a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) program that will provide at-risk children in the Aurora community with opportunities for strategic and intensive exploration of science during school district summer camp programs.

Utilizing the curriculum developed by Aurora University, the program will be led by school district teachers in three East Aurora middle school summer camps and two West Aurora elementary school summer camps. Students will participate in a variety of projects focusing on Polymers, Geology and Space that provide hands-on problem solving and STEM challenges.

We are excited to provide this fun and educational programming as part of the school district’s summer camps! The program is funded for West Aurora by Fox Valley Park District as a grantee for the 21st Century Community Learning Center grant, and for East Aurora through generous corporate sponsorships from Nicor Gas, the Trust Company and Clear Perspective.
